Does The Secret Really Bring You Success? April 19, 2008
Posted by janey in : law of attraction , trackbackThe quick answer? Yes. But in a really different and surprising way that most folks aren’t aware of, and that you should really know. Let me explain.
There’s a lot in this Law that’s attractive (no pun intended) - you get happier, get more stuff you want, and it teaches that you have 100% control over your own fate.
What distracted me for a long time, and what continues to distract the most ardent proponents and critics alike, is its contention that thoughts and emotions directly change the universe in some way.
But whether or not it doesn’t matter, you can still use it to get what you want.
The basic ideas say you should do two things. 1) Be as happy as possible right now (stop worrying) 2) Figure out what you want and imagine enjoying it (stop thinking/dwelling on the stuff that can go wrong).
You’ll get more of what you want, be happier and be in control of your life anyway.
So how does the Secret get you all this great stuff? Well basically in life you mostly get what you mostly focus on. When you think about something a lot, you’ll make subconscious actions to start making that happen. Or keeping it not happen, if that whats you’re thinking about.
To put it another way, think about your lousy habits, and you’ll stay in those habits. Think about having more money? You’ll start looking at different ways of getting more money, and start to take steps the more you think about it. You can’t not.
Do thought and emotion change/manipulate the universe somehow? I don’t know. A big part of me would like to think so. The universe is a strange place. Thought is strange too. But at the end of the day if you just want to be happier and get what you want, you need to use (and more importantly know how to use) a couple of really simple principles that work every time.
